About us

Uppsala University publishes peer reviewed books in a wide range of fields in primarily the humanities and the social sciences. On this platform, we provide a digital outlet for these books with the aim of spreading them to the research community and the wider public. All books available on the platform have gone through a peer review process and are published open access. Committed to the book as an important means of scholarly communication, the platform provides a university wide quality marking for peer reviewed books. Its purpose is to increase the visibility of scholarly books from Uppsala University, gather them in one place and make sure they reach every reader that might benefit from them. This platform is managed by Uppsala University Publications, a unit within Uppsala University Library.

Uppsala University Publications was created in 2016 by the Vice Chancellor of Uppsala University to coordinate and manage the university’s publishing activities and Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis (AUU) under the direction of the AUU editorial board. The goal of AUU's activities is to disseminate scholarly works from Uppsala University through the sale of printed books and the digital dissemination of open access publications. The activities are led by an editorial committee appointed by the university's Vice-Chancellor and with representatives from all the university's faculties. Information about AUU, its publishing program and editorial board can be found here.
